Celebrating 11 Years of Burst of Butterflies

Eleven years ago, Burst of Butterflies began with a simple but powerful idea:
to create a place where creativity could heal, connect, and bring people together.

What started as a deeply personal dream has grown into something far bigger than we ever imagined—a vibrant, welcoming creative community that now spans two studio locations, thousands of guests, countless painted mugs, hand-built planters, spinning pottery wheels, and more joy than we can possibly count.

This January, we celebrated 11 years of Burst of Butterflies, and we want to pause for a moment to reflect on where we’ve been, who helped us get here, and why this milestone means so much to us.

How It All Began 💜

Burst of Butterflies was founded in 2014 after our family experienced a life-altering event that changed everything. Following a traumatic accident that left my sister permanently disabled, we were searching for something that could bring light back into our lives—something hopeful, meaningful, and rooted in community.

Art became that outlet.

After eight months of planning, renovating, and designing, we opened our first studio, in January 2015, with the belief that creativity is for everyone—not just “artists,” but families, kids, seniors, beginners, and anyone who needs a place to breathe, express themselves, and feel supported.

From day one, Burst of Butterflies was never just about painting pottery or throwing clay.
It was about connection.

From One Studio to Two (and Growing!) 🌱

Over the years, our little studio has grown in ways we could never have predicted.

What began as one location has expanded into two bustling studios, each with its own personality, team, and loyal community—yet both rooted in the same heart and mission.

Along the way, we’ve:

• Hosted thousands of families, date nights, birthday parties, and school groups
• Introduced pottery wheels, hand-building clay, canvas painting, and specialty workshops
• Built an incredible team of artists, instructors, and studio assistants
• Watched kids grow up in our studios—and sometimes bring their own kids back years later 🥹

That kind of full-circle magic never gets old.

Our 11-Year Anniversary Celebration 🎉

To celebrate 11 years, we hosted a special in-studio anniversary event filled with gratitude, smiles, and a little bit of fun.

Guests were invited to spin our anniversary prize wheel (because what’s a celebration without surprises?), enjoy special perks, and celebrate right alongside us. From longtime regulars to first-time visitors, the love and support we felt that day was overwhelming—in the best way.
