Clay Hand-Build: Capybara Planter

Looking for a creative night out? Join us for this playful clay hand-building class where we’ll create an adorable Capybara Planter — perfect for holding a small cactus or succulent.

This beginner-friendly class is designed for adults and teens who want to try clay without the pressure of the pottery wheel. We’ll guide you step-by-step through shaping, attaching features, smoothing, and adding personality to your capybara. You’ll also learn simple texture techniques to bring your piece to life.

After class, we’ll carefully dry and kiln-fire your planter. Once fired, we’ll glaze it in a warm glossy finish (just like the sample!) and fire it again so it’s ready for pickup.

All clay, glazing return visit, and both kiln firings are included in your registration.

What’s Included:

• 2 hours of guided instruction
• All clay and tools
• First kiln firing (bisque fire)
• Complimentary return visit (approximately 2 weeks later) to glaze-paint your piece in your choice of colors
• Final glaze firing
• Finished planter ready for pickup 7–10 days after your glazing visit

The fun continues! About two weeks after class, we’ll text you when your capybara is ready for glazing. Come back and paint it in your favorite colors — that return visit is included.

Important Notes:

• Pieces will be glazed in a glossy finish similar to the sample.
• Clay projects require drying time and two kiln firings, so pieces do not go home the same day.
• Pickup instructions will be texted once ready.
